Attire for Choral Festival and Band Festival

Dear Parents:

Listed below is the attire for the upcoming Chicago Public School music festivals.

Choir and  Vocal Ensemble  Festival – Thursday  May 21, 2015

Boys: Solid White Dress Shirt, (No letters or deigns on the shirt) Black Dress Pants, (no jeans) Black Belt, (no sagging pants) Black socks, all black dress shoes, no gym shoes. Neck Tie – Choose your own color – (No Bow Ties.)

Girls: Solid White Dress Shirt, Black skirt or Black Dress Pants, no jeans, (no stretch pant or leggings worn as pants). No mini skirts. Skirts should be slightly above the knee or lower.  Black dress shoes, (no gym shoes, flip flops or sandals). If the shoes are  ballet style shoes they must be all black and have a heel and sole. Actual ballet shoes do not have a heel and sole and will not be acceptable to wear.   Neck Tie – Choose your own color. (No Bow Ties)

If a student does not adhere to the required attire he or she will not be allowed to perform. Eighth grade students receive a grade for being in the vocal ensemble. If a student does not perform because of their attire, they will receive a zero for the day and the choir festival is treated as an exam grade.

 Concert Band Festival – Thursday May 28,  2015

Boys: Solid White Dress Shirt, black long tie, (no bow ties) Black Dress Pants, (no jeans) Black dress Jacket. Black Belt, (no sagging pants) Black socks, Black dress shoes, no gym shoes.

Girls:  Option #1. Solid White Dress Shirt, Black long tie, (no bow tie).  Black skirts or Black Dress Pants, Black Dress Jacket no jeans. No miniskirts. Skirts should be slightly above the knee or lower.  No stretch pant or leggings worn as pants.  Black dress shoes, (no gym shoes, flip flops or sandals). If girls choose to wear hosiery, it should be a solid color, black white, neutral or skin tone. No hosiery with any strips, fish net or designs.  If the shoes are ballet style shoes they must be all black and have a heel and sole. Actual ballet shoes do not have a heel and sole and will not be acceptable to wear.

Girls: Option #2. All Black Dress, not a black top and black skirt.

Black dress shoes, (no gym shoes, flip flops or sandals). If the shoes are ballet style shoes they must be all black and have a heel and sole. Actual ballet shoes do not have a heel and sole and will not be acceptable to wear.
